Packet-boat 'Duchess Countess' Trust

The Trust is a community-based, not-for-profit Company whose long-term Project is to re-create the historic canal packet – ‘Duchess Countess’.  In the meantime the Trust has been commissioned by British Waterways the day to day management of Llanymynech Wharf Visitor Centre in the restored stables adjacent to the canal and have also undertaken to prepare, operate (as from 2006) and maintain the trip boat ‘George Watson Buck’, gifted to the community of Llanymynech, Pant and Carreghofa.

The first boat through Llanymynech bridge for 60 years

We appeal to you for help in various ways: by becoming a member of the Trust; in helping to man the visitor centre;  prepare and maintaining the trip boat and  (as from 2006 and with  appropriate qualifications) being a crew member of  the ‘George Watson Buck’.

The trip boat is the first non-maintenance boat on the canal at Llanymynech for sixty years.     Together with the Heritage Area adjacent to the canal and other development in the vicinity, the activities and facilities based on Llanymynech Wharf offer a fine educational opportunity and tourist attraction.

You can make a difference!
